I just wrapped up one of the first shows for the Alicia Keys Set the World on Fire tour playing to a very vibrant and Sold Out Los Angeles crowd at the Staples Center.

Below is one of the images that i felt was beautifully iconic reminding me of a photograph by one of my favorite photographers Erwin Blumenfeld.

The light off Alicia's face falls into the darkness , opening the show with a bold mysterious pose,  showing that she has been re born as an artist. Smoke coming from the grates of the stage like a stroll down broadway in december, the images seen of iconic New York City , set the tone for a classic Keys performance.

Its been some time since our last post, but a lot has been happening here with the team of SLV! 

Currently our team is in LA beginning the pre production of the "Set the world on fire" tour for Alicia Keys!
We will be updating as the tour gets ready to kick off starting in Seattle WA on March 7th! Stay Tuned.

We spent most of december working with Mariah Carey on her 1st Australian tour in 15 years. The shows went
off to rave reviews to an audience who missed the Diva!

We are also pleased to announce our position as the Creative Design firm for the 2013 Electric Zoo Festival, we are excited and humbled to be invited back for our 5th year designing this show which features the top electronic music artists in the world all in one place!   

Today was the release of the MADNESS video for the artist AARON CAMPER.

SLV's Jonathan Goldstein and Betina Rodriguez Directed and Produced the video for BASSic Black Entertainment.

We enjoyed working with an amazing crew and cast on this project and look forward to future projects with Aaron and BBE.

It has been quite the exciting and busy year for myself and the whole team at SLV. We just returned back to nyc from a great trip to China with Ms. Mariah Carey, followed by Los Angeles and finally Las Vegas for the annual Live Design LDI conference, where I was invited to speak at the projection masters class!

It has been some time since a post update here on SLV.com and we have some exciting news about the next couple of weeks and what we have been so busy working on.

First - the 2012 electric zoo music festival, 4 stages and an expected crowd to top 110k people! More importantly SLV has been at the helm of all the production and visual design for the show and we have some ground breaking things to reveal once the show wraps up, so stay tuned!

Directly following zoo we will be working once more with Alicia Keys under the creative direction of simon henwood... Stay tuned for this live television event in sept!!!

Coming up in October SLV will be traveling to china to design a performance for Mariah Carey and the press tour for her upcoming album...

Also in October Jonathan Goldstein will be speaking at the LDI conference during the projection masters class which is under the moderation of Abigail Holmes and some other amazing panelists!!

Q'Viva! The Chosen LIVE ! Just wrapped this past weekend in Las Vegas, a show based off the hit Fox/Univision TV series was essentially a culmination of the final talent chosen by the hosts  (Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jamie King) to perform in a finale concert special at the Mandalay Bay Arena. Jennifer and Marc were also both also performing in the show while Jamie was the show director.

The sold out show was huge success for all involved! It was a great pleasure to once again work with Jamie King and his team of talented people. More photos to come soon! 

Next week i will be embarking on a show full of latin talent , most of which was found and first seen on the
show QVIVA which aired this year on UNIVISION. This LIVE concert is the grand finale and compilation of all the different talents seen throughout the television season, with performances by Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez directed by Jamie King.

Stay tuned for updates on the show which happens LIVE on May 26th in Las Vegas!  

At the beginning of february i was contacted by long time collegeue, and recently appointed creative director for Alicia Keys Simon Henwood about conceptualizing a photo / film shoot for Alicia Keys highly anticipated album scheduled to drop sometime in 2012. Of course i was more than honored and excited to be a part of this with Simon and for a first time working with Alicia. I can not divulge too many secrets on this project but i can say that we used a perspective reaching back to the 1940's photographers who broke ground with there use of light and classic beauty. We recently wrapped the shoot , and i must say that we achieved some ground breaking images. The effects and style of the images were all achieved IN CAMERA!!!!!! no photoshop.... Cant wait to show them once they are publicly released!!!! SLV was appointed as Art Director/Lighting Designer for this shoot, and worked with Simon Henwood as Director/Creative Director as well as famed Swedish DoP Jallo Faber.

SLV was brought in by P DIDDY and MARIAH CAREY to light there televised performances on the Harrahs Total Rewards LIVE concert series. This was a unique challenge as the show was being simulcast to LA, New Orleans, and Chicago, all of which were also putting on a concert with multiple artists which were performing and shooting there transmissions to the other locations.  I had the oppurtunity recently to work with KARMIN on there debut performance... KARMIN became popular last year when a series of there YOUTUBE COVERS went viral grabbing over 50 million hits.. Now they are set to release there debut album sometime in late march. Also working on his project is a great friend and talented musical director Tony Bruno. This month i was able to work with BIG SEAN on his Anticipation 2OUR whcih started in Cleveland Ohio to an amazingly energetic crowd! The Anticipation Tour Features Headliner Trey Songz and BIG SEAN as ahip hop and RnB powerhouse providing non stop hits from the momemnt the lights go down.

I was contacted by BIG SEAN's  team to design a set and lighting design to really set BIG SEAN apart from his previous tours. The outcome was 5 massive set pieces built of 3 dimensional glass mirror with a little visual trick to the mirror, go see the show and you will see for yourself !!

Two nights ago on a long dark pier in the meatpacking section of NYC , a major event in fashion and music took place. 

The UK based retail chain of H&M brings on a guest designer each year to design a limited line that will be placed in certain retail locations. This year it was VERSACE.. well at the release and runway show, StarLight Visual 
was brought in by Nikci Minaj to light her performance in the evenings festivities, CHECK OUT THE PHOTO GALLERY HERE. The space was small but the crowd was into it, vibing to the jams.. Nicki ripped it up performing an onslaught of 7 of her top hits with her dancers in tow.

I was contacted by Willo Perron and Associates to come and design the lighting for the performance of "Rise Above" from the Spiderman Musical featuring  Bono and The Edge on the finale of American Idol. All of this happened very quickly there were many challenges with integrating the web lighting into the set piece into the overall design of the tv show. The outcome was a great performance and beautiful photos.

This month artist and friend Simon Henwood has an installation in the British Music Experience Museum housed housed as part of the 02 Music complex in London, UK.
